Happy 10th Birthday, Guy!

Poor Guy's birthday was probably the most uneventful one in our household, yet. Because I couldn't handle a houseful of children or coordinating a big party, we gave him the option of a big party at the end of the summer or to take the money it would cost for the party. I'll give you one guess what my son chose... MONEY! Were you surprised? HA!

He didn't even get a cake. I let him look through my cookbooks to choose a dessert. Everything he chose couldn't be made b/c I was missing an ingredient or two. When you're house-bond and can't drive, running to the store was out of the question. We FINALLY came across a lemonade pie (appropriate for summer, huh?) Then, we realized the lemonade mix I had in the freezer was PINK lemonade. Not what a 10 year boy wants, a pink pie! LOL! Oh well, he was a good sport, and the pie tasted GREAT!

Guy asked everyone for money instead of a gift. We weren't sure what he was going to buy, though. He kept looking at OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive Lego sets. Did you know they get over $100 for some of the Star Wars sets. RIDICULOUS, don't you think?

Well, guess what. We got him a $50 set. I know, I know. I can't help it. He loves them! He saved the rest of the money for a whole 4 days! WOW! Then he found a Gamecube. We now have a new game system and all kinds of "boyish" games. Of course we have a Lego Star Wars, a football and a snowboarding game and everything in between. You'd think he'd won the lottery. He is so excited! He says it's his best birthday, ever. I guess his birthday was more eventful than I thought, huh?

Now Guy is TRYING to teach Cole how to play these games. We've had a few arguments, but overall I'm surprised how well they are playing together. The game system seems to be a boy thing. I think Jeff is just as excited about this new toy as the boys are. Boys will be boys, huh?

Family to the rescue!

As most of you know, I had 3 surgeries the first week in June. I am so lucky that Rick and Karen kept the boys while I was in the hospital. The boys had a blast, b/c Papa has a pool and playground at the RV park. They came back tan as could be and exhausted! LOL!

Angela came up to help the week after surgery. Then Mom & Dad came out to relieve her. They got to stay a week and then headed to Angela's for a quick visit. It's good to know you have relatives when you can't care for your own family.

Can you tell which grandparent the boys seems to gravitate to? Man do they love their Nana and Pops. I hate that they can't see them more often. But, for now we have to settle for quality rather than quantity, huh? The boys didn't want to see Nana and Pops go, but they enjoyed the visit.

Summ, summ, summertime...

The first week out of school before I had surgery or got our summer membership to the Y, the boys were "dying" to get outside and get wet! I hooked up the sprinklers, pulled out the water guns and let them have at it! They had a blast, but man was it hot! Because the deck was burning their feet, they filled the ice chest with water and made a "jutuzzi" (as Cole called it). They had ice cream and sat in that ice chest. I bet they played out there for a good 2-3 hours. They are so crazy!

You can tell it was early in the summer... there are NO tans, just lily white chest! HA!

Summer Camps

This week the boys went to an A.C.T.s for the King Camp (Artistic Children's Training) at church. They were able to choose classes that would teach them talents to use in Children's Ministry or to improve on those gifts that God gave them. They could have chosen set design, piano, trumpet, air brushing, photography, singing, etc. Guy picked guitar and graphic design. Cole choose drums and drama. I thought they were good fits for them.

Cole even won a contest were they had to move to the beat of the music. It started slow and increasing got faster. He outlasted all the other kids and won a "Deal or No Deal" game. He was so proud!!!

I know my boys are ALL BOY, but they are good kids. They've been so sweet and understanding through all my surgery this summer. I guess I'll keep these kids God gave me, rather than trading them in! LOL!

The Jennings Family

I thought since I put pictures of Tammi's family on the blog... I better show off Angela's, too. These picture were taken in March.

Drew is 4 and Richie is 3. Man are they growing fast! Drew begins kindergarten in the fall.

Hillmer for President?

Yes, Casey (my brother-in-law) is running for an elected office in Mississippi. They had family pictures made for his campaign, and I think they are great!!! Good luck, Uncle Casey!

Can you believe how big the kids are getting? Josh just turned 16 in May, Carter will be 5 in July and Little Miss Cailey will be 1!!!

Cailey was dedicated on Mother's day. Can you see how much Pops loves this "little princess" (as he calls her)? Mom made her dress, including hand smocking! WOW!

I made her a handkerchief bonnet. She will be able to unstitch it and use it on her wedding day.

Can you tell how excited we all are to have a girl among us. All the "Bolt girls" had boys, and now we FINALLY have a girl. YEAH! She is going to be spoiled rotten!
